What are the best ways to lose weight at home?

Read Time:3 Minute, 9 Second

Losing weight and getting back in shape is not an easy task. It’s not tough because working out is not easy, rather it’s tough because of the desire to avoid any experience of discomfort.

My Journey from Overweight to Back in Shape

This was me 10 months down the lane.

Back then in March 2020, when the government imposed nationwide lockdown, I spent my next four months in my home. During those four months, I had nothing to do except watching movies, oversleeping, and of course, eating like crazy. I didn’t care about my health at all. And as a result, all those coziness and comfort made me obese like never before. My friends started calling me Motu (Fat). Since I was overweight, I got a lot of comments from my friends and relatives. It was September 21st when I decided to change my lifestyle and included exercising in my daily routine.

The biggest challenge which came before me was how to exercise when you don’t have access to a gym.

I just can’t let away my resolution so easily. Instead of waiting for the gym to open, I went for the home workout option. I did a lot of research and it turned out that we can do almost all forms of exercise with only a few pieces of equipment.

Below are the types of equipment which I ordered online:

  • A resistance band (Costs around 800/-)
  • A yoga mat (Costs around 600/-)
  • A pair of dumbbells (Costs around 1500/-)
  • A backpack with some books ( to add weights while doing squats)

Working out without any specific plan and set of goals is akin to flying an airplane without the GPS system. So, I prepared a workout plan and followed it strictly for the next 3 months. I prepared my workout plan in such a way that all the muscle groups are covered twice a week.

I have attached my week’s plan below for your ease. All the exercises mentioned can be easily done with the equipments mentioned above.

Initially, I kept the number of reps to be somewhere in between 8-12 and the number of sets to be 3. Gradually, keeping the number of sets fixed, I increased the number of reps between 14-16. Later on, after 1.5 months, I increased the number of sets to 4. I did this, as I didn’t have the option to increase the loads. This is possible only when you go to the gym. But trust me, it won’t matter at all unless you miss consistency. You can still be able to grow a decent number of muscles if you can keep yourself stick to the routine.

Always remember, working out in a Gym is hardly 1 hour, the rest 23 hours are crucial.

Apart from working out on regular basis, you need to consider several other important aspects also which go hand in hand. You need to take care of the below things along with exercising which I will write with details later on.
